Nancy Stone's watercolors explore the energy between bold color/subtle nuances, multiple glazes/playful textures, and imagination/observation. She fell completely in love with the medium while canoeing in the Adirondacks, gliding upon the water, dipping the brush into the water, painting the watery wilderness. Seasonal changes in the woods and wildlife surrounding her studio, as well as travel, are her inspiration.

Nancy earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Alfred University, College of Ceramics.  She has studied in depth at the San Antonio Art Institute in Texas, the Phoebe Flory Watercolor Portrait School in New Hampshire and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine.  Other learning experiences include classes with watercolorists Catherine Anderson, Linda Kemp, Jeanne Dobie, Frank Webb, Tom Lynch and Lawrence Goldsmith.  Exhibiting in numerous group and solo shows, she is an award-winning member of Northern Vermont Artists Association, a signature member of the Vermont Watercolor Society, and a member of the Bryan Memorial Gallery, Jeffersonville, VT.  She shares her passion for creative expression by teaching at Vermont Community College, Vermont Commons School and mentoring young artists.
