After I graduated from UVM in nursing and had a family, my interest in art increased when I took repeated courses in figure painting from Bill Brauer.
I discovered the radiance and excitement of watercolor about 15 years ago and have since taken many classes and workshops with Lisa Forester Beach of Stowe. In addition I have recently taken classes from Marie Le Pre Gabon on figure drawing, with the intention of adding more people to my paintings. I have also taken classes from Joy Spontak, Jeneanne Lunn, Katherine Monstream, Paul Leveille, and Tom Lynch.
I am especially interested in colors and the transformation of even ordinary objects when sunlight hits them. I try to share the beauty and humor I find by using transparent paints in my watercolors to maximize the glow of white paper through the pigment. I paint a variety of subjects and do work by commission.
I won Best In Show at the Paletteers’ Art Show July 2002 with "Neither Rain Nor Snow" and Honorable Mention at the Paletteers’ Art Show July 2000.
